Rachel Smith - Head trainer KCAI (CD)

Rachel is the lead trainer at Furry Tails and draws on over a decade of experience working with canine behaviour. Rachel is responsible for the design and coordination of our courses, ensuring both you and your dog can build skills, games and confidence week by week, whether you are an experienced dog-owner or bringing your first puppy!

As well as being an Absolute dogs Pro Dog trainer, Rachel is also an accredited Kennel club companion dog instructor

Rachel has professional qualifications in dog training from IMDT, Compass, The Centre of Excellence, Alpha Education, ‘Think Dog’ by Sarah Whitehead and a Level 3 Professional Daycare and Boarding Certificate.

Rachel has also trained alongside a Crufts Obedience winner who has taught her the foundation of her skills she possesses today. Having previously held training classes and socialisation groups for a North West company, Rachel has successfully accredited dogs through all stages of the Kennel Club Good Citizen dog scheme with her own dogs. 

Rachel has had a lifelong love of dogs and has long supported rescue dogs through The Dogs Trust charity and local rescue centres. Her own rescued furry friends helped to build her interest in behavioural therapy for dogs and she has rehabilitated her latest rescue, Katie, with positive behaviour techniques to bring out the happy, confident side of this lovely collie Cross. 

​With this experience, Rachel is able to draw upon a wide range of techniques and skills to help people of all ages and abilities to successfully communicate with our canine friends in a fun and rewarding way.

Adam Collier - Dog Trainer

Adam has worked with furry Tails since 2020 and absolutely loves working with his furry colleagues. In the past, he has worked for West Mercia Police as a witness care officer. Adam has been walking dogs and training with Furry Tails since early 2019 and has a Level 3 Professional Daycare and Boarding Certificate.

He loves the outdoors and animals, especially dogs. Over the years he has spent time with Rachel, helping to improve his knowledge of these amazing animals and learning lots about positive-reinforcement dog training.

he is a fully qualified dog first aider and is continuing his doggy knowledge through on-going training courses.

Cheryl Brown Groomer

Cheryl is our resident dog groomer. Cheryl has worked as a dog groomer and undertook her level 2 diploma in work based animal care and she has also recently completed a course in canine behaviour.

When not in work Cheryl enjoys spending time with her two Labradors Diesel and Bear who are very energetic and full of fun, she also enjoys the company of her two cats Tigger and Sooty too.

Emily Thorpe - Daycare Manager, Behavioural Furry Dog Mother

Emily joined us in 2023 but has been a long standing supported and part of our family since the very beginning when she enrolled on one of our courses with her dog Reggie.

Emily is also known locally for having an online shop called with Wirral woof bags, where she sells natural treats and accessories for dogs.

Emily Has worked with various different animals for over 20 years. Emily started her career by completing her level 3 in animal management, and continued completing her level 4&5 in animal science.

Having 2 dogs herself that both struggle with unwanted behaviours such as barking, lunging and resource guarding Emily wanted to help them and others by understanding why they do it, and what she can do to help.

Emily is currently completing her level 3 in professional day-care and boarding with the IMDT, and working through the certification program with the dog training college to be a certified dog trainer.

Charlotte Edwards - Furry Dog Mother & Trainer

Charlotte has completed her level 3 extended diploma in animal management learning about behaviour, training, animal handling, health, welfare and genetics.

Charlottes also cares for her own 2 dogs, in her spare time Charlottes enjoys doing sporting work with her springer spaniel, Brandy and doing agility and gundog work. Charlotte is continuing to further her skills in the canine industry.
