Reactive Tails
Help your dog thrive, not just cope!
Our dog-to-dog Reactivity Programme is a comprehensive training and behavioural plan designed to address your dog’s reactivity towards other dogs. Over four weeks, you’ll participate in weekly online group sessions and in-person training to tackle this challenge step by step, then we’ll go out on a public dog walk to see how you can put all your skills into practice.
We’ll explore the causes and triggers of your dog’s reactivity, teach you how to help them cope in the future, and guide you in reshaping their responses to stressful situations. Along the way, we’ll focus on practical management strategies to support you while we address the root of the behaviour.
Punishing emotional displays may suppress the behaviour temporarily, but it doesn’t address the underlying emotions driving it. This course is designed to target and transform those core struggles, helping your dog feel calmer and more confident.
Reactive dog training is important because it helps both dogs and their humans live safer, calmer, and happier lives. Here’s why it matters — with both heart and logic:
🐾 What is a Reactive Dog?
A reactive dog is one who overreacts to things in their environment — like other dogs, people, bikes, or noises. This can look like:
Barking, growling, or lunging on the lead
Freezing, trying to escape, or hiding
High alert and unable to focus on you
Reactivity is not aggression — it’s often rooted in fear, frustration, or lack of coping skills.
✅ Why Do Reactive Dog Training?
1. Safety First 🚨
Training helps prevent dangerous situations for your dog, you, and others. You’ll learn how to manage triggers before things escalate.
2. Improves Your Bond 💞
You and your dog become a team. As they learn to trust you and look to you for guidance, your connection strengthens.
3. Builds Confidence (Theirs & Yours) 💪
Most reactive dogs are overwhelmed. Training helps them feel more in control — and teaches you how to handle real-life situations calmly.
4. Reduces Stress on Walks 🌳
No more dread every time you see another dog across the road. You’ll have tools, strategies, and a calmer canine.
5. Helps Dogs Thrive, Not Just “Cope” 🐕🦺
Reactive dogs are often misunderstood. Training and management helps them feel secure, supported, and able to enjoy the world.
Bottom Line:
Reactive training isn’t about “fixing” your dog — it’s about helping them feel safe, heard, and supported in a world that can feel too big, too fast, or too loud.
With the right training, reactive dogs can become relaxed, focused, and happy companions. 🐶✨
Remember your dog is not giving you a hard time, they’re having a hard time!
